I thought it prudent to follow up on my last release concerning racism in SL because I see brighter days ahead, and am glad to see I'm just one of many who have decided to step up and fight back. A year back I had started hearing rumors of racism infiltrating our humble digital home, and remembered thinking, it must not be that bad sense I had yet to come across it.Well, my recent experience at Waterhead had proven that rumor by 10 fold. In the last release I had touched on the possibility of harboring racist because I had been banned so quickly for dishing out a return hate-red towards the folks in question. Maybe I was hasty in making that determination, because the next time it started up again, I was smart enough to take my own advice and not get baited into giving content to get banned with in the first place. I instead, actually utilized the AR (Abuse Reports) system this time, and with-in a half hour, racist no-more!

It did arise a few more times, but seems to be dramatically decreasing, especially because the AR system is indeed working, and is being utilized. So, hat's off to the AR folks and SL for helping to keep our global community clean.

Second Life catering to racist?

I’m not sure if some of you know, but I’ve been a Second Life fanatic for some time now. Last year I helped run the Burning Life event with Vicero Lambert and many other extremely talented individuals. I took a break for about 6 months to work on this site and some other projects in the works and recently returned to gear up for the large events that occur this time of year (RFL, BL, etc.)
Well, I just may stop going all together.. why? you ask. Well, tonight (well, today about 3am in the morning lol) I was hang'n out in my favorite welcome area, and have been having to listen to these 3-5 racist talk crap for the last 3 days to different new and old visitors coming to Waterhead (the welcome area I like to hang at.) Absolutely foul name calling and remarks so graphic I rather not display here. So, finaly I had enough, I figured they would have been ban by now, but to my dismay, their they where in all there racist, insecure glory, wielding their tiny brains about offending more folks.

I walked over and started giving them a piece of there own medicine, demeaning there way of thinking, and letting them know that there not fooling anyone with their sorry existence as insecure week minded individuals. It went on for about a half an hour (bantering back and forth with them,) and finaly a few left and the others language toned down enough not to be offensive.

Not 10 minutes after I finished putting them in there place, I get booted with an email telling me I've broken the SL TOS rules and I am temporarily suspended from using Second Life?! Keep in mind, SL is famous for taking weeks, if not months getting back to folks who have filled out a griefing reports (I actually got one about 2 months ago concerning a report I put in SIX MONTHS PRIOR!)

So, what does this tell me? Either SL has gotten more efficient with their reports or the racist I stepped up to, are actually SL employees (or know someone on the back-end that can ban folks.) My opinion would be that it's someone on the inside catering to racist. (after all, I'm suspended, and there still their calling people by the "N" word?!)
